Where Is Lance Corporal Jallow?

The family of Lance Corporal Toumani Jallow is worried about his whereabouts. Jallow, a plainclothes officer of former President Yahya Jammeh, has been missing since his arrest last year. His arrest followed an arson attack on the APRC political bureau in Kanifing.

Jallow was picked up by Gambian security agents when he reported for duty. He has not been seen or heard since then.

Lance Corporal Jallow’s family thinks their loved one is detained at one of the numerous detention centres spread across the country. The Jallow family too responded to the new government’s executive order to release anyone detained unlawfully or on political grounds would be released. They embark on frantic search aimed at discovering Toumani Jallow’s whereabouts but he is nowhere to be found.

“We are appealing to his colleagues and close friends in the security services, especially those officers accused of touching the APRC political bureau to please get in touch with us,” an uncle of Toumani, Sulayman Kebbeh, wrote.

“The information you give may be vital in locating Toumani Jallow whether he is dead or alive. According to our own investigation the officers who absconded are very close to Toumani Jallow and the investigative authorities have accused him of communicating with them. They claimed to have found some text messages in his phone sent by two of the absconded soldiers requesting for a favour,” Kebbeh alleged.

“Any plainclothes officer with vital information regarding my nephew can contact us. Toumani’s colleagues who witness the arrest should help us with information on where he was taken for questioning and where he was detained and probably where they buried if he was killed,” he said, assuring that “any information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality.”

Kebbeh said his family “will not rest until we bring Lance Corporal Toumani Jallow home – dead or alive – and that those responsible face the long arm of justice. Hiding a murderer is a crime that can boomerang on you because the next victim could be your own child. We will never forgive Yahya Jammeh and his thugs; no matter how long it may take they will face justice.”

Any leads on the missing soldier can be sent to Sulayman Kebbeh via this email. kebbehsulay@gmail.com.
