Security Blocks Obasanjo’s Book

ObasanjoNigerian security have blocked more copies of a book authored by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“The State Security Service people have told us that they won’t allow more copies of the book into the country,” a close Obasanjo source told Sahara Reporters.

The politically controversial autobiography by former President Obasanjo have sold out three days aftet it hit the book market on Tuesday.

“Baba [President Obasanjo] sold all the copies that were brought in,” an associate of Mr. Obasanjo said, adding that the three-volume book brims with sharp criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakarr, the late President Umaru Yar’Adua and former Governors Bola Tinubu, Bukola and James Ibori.

Hours before the book was launched last Tuesday, an associate of Mr. Jonathan obtained an order from a High Court judge barring the book’s publication. But Mr. Obasanjo proceeded with the launch of the book, stating that the book was already published before the judge gave his order and that the order did not prohibit him from launching the book. Obasanjo’s lawyers have filed a 10 point affidavit at the Appeals Court in Abuja challenging the ruling of Justice Valentine Ashia.

President Jonathan who has had brawl with Mr. Obasanjo begged for the cancellation of book’s publication but the former President would not blink. President Jonathan also feared the backlash resulting from Mr. Obasanjo’s sharp criticisms on him prompting the former to send powerful Governors to ask Obasanjo to tone down his attacks. But Obasanjo said it is too late for him to change course.
