Navy Commander Fled With Family

A Gambian navy commander declared wanted by the government has fled with his family, Kairo News sources confirmed.

Lt. Commander Momodou Badjie, an Administrative Officer of the Gambia Navy, is declared wanted by the government after efforts to ascertain his whereabouts were fruitless.

In a televised statement, Badjie was accused of misappropriating substantial amount of money belong to the Gambia Armed Forces. The public had been warned against sheltering “a fugitive from justice.”

Kairo News had earlier greeted the news with suspicion until the chaff was extracted from the wind. We have since been putting our sources to work.

Our sources confirmed that Lt. Commander fled with his entire family except his two sons who were left behind in his Brikama residence. Before this development, it was earlier rumoured that Badjie had escaped. “Momodou Badjie kept a low profile life and went on life as usual for weeks before leaving the country quietly,” said a source.

All our sources doubted the government’s allegations that the former Navy Commander had misappropriated state funds. They described him as “a very easy going, humble and honest man who does not have the heart to make life unbearable for others.”

One military official doubted how Badjie would have access to money when “Colonel Momodou Bah is in charge of all army finances. The story does not add up because Badjie is not a signatory to army accounts.”

Our sources added that Badjie was born in Southern Senegal. “His parents sent him to the Gambia to acquire western education. He had acquired education, taught for some years at Alpha Khan Secondary School before he joined the army,” one source said.

Lt. Commander Badjie is reported to have been spotted in the Senegalese capital Dakar.

  1. A very Good investigative journalism . As I said previously , Lt commander Badjie was a deserter who had privacy of valuable information about president Jammeh . He knows his fate is very similar to solo Bojang who is languishing in Mile two prison despite the fact that Solo was discharged by the court and he paid his fine . It is Jammeh’s regime policy to paint negative picture of any deserter to the Gambian people and international community . Lt commander didn’t go with any money as they claimed in their press release .
This investigative story has further confirmed that Jammeh appointed cassamance jolas as his main protectors . Today majority of his inner circle and top security apparatus are jolas from cassamance. Majority of these jolas pledged total loyal support to Jammeh unless their personal security is threaten . But now some of them began to see the reality and knows that their lives are at risk as they learn from the likes of Solo Bojang , Lang Tombong Tamba . Gambian’s will be surprise to know that every top military officer within Jammeh’s regime is scared of his life while in the position . Today General Saul Badgie is in similar position despite his public appearance as co- president and he may face similar fate like what happened to solo Bojang and Lang Tombong Tamba . As online media continue to expose the regime human right abuses , murder and corruption , we will continue to see top military officers desert the regime .

  2. Cassamace rebels & volunteers’ very illegal illegitimate criminal survival lies with the Murderous Oppressive Manipulative Idolatrous kanilai DEVIL; the army & other security apparatus supposed to serve Gambian populace has been infiltrated by implants of these mercenaries who “must do or die” with the Murderous syndola futampaff yaya-Predatory DEVIL….

Gambians know it’s matter of when; NOT whether; together we are getting there soon….

  3. If he ran away with his entire family, definitely, then he must have done something very wrong. He must also planned his escape in advance. I will advice that we wait for more information before being the police, the judge and the executioner.

For Badjie coming from Cassamance is irrelevant. He came to the Gambia for greener pasture and joined the military before Jammeh was in power. I will therefore put that blame on the previous regime.

I was born in the Gambia. I came to the USA 17 years ago and served in the army. I am an American. We should stop discriminating others just because they came from Cassamance. Look at yourself before you criticize others.

    • Malang….

To conclude that Badjie must have done something wrong because he “ran” away with his entire family is a bit of a twisted way of reasoning, won’t you agree..?

The man may simply have found it impossible to continue serving a regime that knows no bounds and limits, when it comes to doing evil, and decided to quit and leave, knowing that choosing to stay, after abandoning the ship, could be fatal…I think that would be the most logical assumptions, if we go by the story above…

Lt.Com. Badjie is described as, “a very easy going, humble and honest man who does not have the heart to make life unbearable for others.”

A colleague in the force is also quoted as saying:

“Colonel Momodou Bah is in charge of all army finances. The story does not add up because Badjie is not a signatory to army accounts..”

Lt.Com. Badjie may have been living in hell, waking up every morning and reporting for work to serve a regime that has specialised in making life unbeatable for many…

I do share your views that his origin is insignificant as far as the issue under discussion is concerned, and unless he has personally acted in a way or ways that go against the ethics of his profession and provisions of the constitution, no one should blame him for the wrongs of.the regime..

I don’t think that merely being in the employment of The Gambia Government, in whatever capacity and level, automatically qualifies one as a helper and an enabler of the regime..That is only true when individuals do things outside of their terms of work/reference that further the selfish causes of individuals, especially Yaya Jammeh, or the regime, as a whole..

  4. Malang , I know you are economical of truth and you always refused to say the truth even if you see it . Jammeh has been appointing his tribemen from cassamance in all the major security apparatus . In the USA army which you claimed to have served , you don’t see blanket injustice and impunity like these militia from cassamance are doing in The Gambia . I doubt you have served USA military because USA military’s veterans respect the constitution and rule of law which you do not support at all . Your ignorance about lack of professionalism of Jammeh’s militia and lack of respect for the fundamental rights of Gambians , indicate to me that you do not have what it take to be a veteran of USA. No one is against legal migration but the problem with Jammeh is that he has systematically favored his tribemen to occupy high position in the military . That is the fact you do not want to admit .

Well may be this is good riddance. Let’s move on.
