Gambian community in Finland is not only mourning the sudden death of Jafara Kanyi, they are also making efforts to send his remains home.

Jafara Kanyi, a native of Jarra Sankwia in the Lower River Region, passed away in Helsinki last week after a brief sickness. The man pictured above is believed to be in his early sixties. He has been living in the Scandanavia for many years.

Despite its sizeable number the Gambian community in Finland is known for rendering support to Gambians, especially in times of need or emergency. This is why the community on Saturday held an emergency meeting to discuss what can be done with Jafara’s remains. It was unanimously agreed to send the body to Sankwia for a fitting burial. It is in this regard that the community is soliciting funds from individuals and organisations to send Jafara Kanyi’s body home.

Those who want to donate can do so through the following focal persons:

May the soul of Jafara and those who went before him rest in Eternal Peace.

Ends
