Drammeh Takes Over Civil Service

Habib Drammeh has got tough assignment!

Gambian President Adama Barrow has re-deployed Secretary General and Head of Civil Service Dawda Fadera to foreign service, replacing him with Interior Minister Habib Saihou Drammeh.

In a press statement, President Barrow appointed Mr. Fadera appointed as the Gambia’s Ambassador to Washington, the United State of America.

President Barrow has also appointed Mr. Ebrima Mballow as the Interior Minister. Until his appointment, Mballow had been the Governor of Western Region. A career civil servant Bakary Sanyang has replaced Mr. Mballow.

The government has not advanced any reasons for the minor reshuffle which comes on the heels of complaints of dysfunction in the Civil Service. Dawda Fadera has been squarely blamed for not properly handling the case of Ousman Jammeh who resigned in protest against nepotism.  Agriculture Minister Omar Amadou Jallow chose to work with Assan Jallow instead of Mr. Jammeh who was re-deployed to Director of Agric Services. Ousman said there is no guaranteed good working relationship with a minister who does not want to work with him. After his cries fell on deaf ears, Mr. Jammeh decided to quit.

With his wealth of experience and knowledge, Habib Drammeh is expected to keep the Civil Service run effectively.
